Host Christopher Cahill speaks to him about how seminal academic studies of efficient markets are over-extrapolated to discourage active management of investments in less efficient markets. They also review the necessary attributes of good investment managers.

About Ted Neild

 

Ted serves as the firm’s President and Chief Investment Officer. In his role as CIO, Ted is responsible for leading Gresham’s Investment Team as it establishes investment themes, identifies opportunities that fit within the firm’s Risk Conscious® investment approach, and sources select investment managers located globally, many of whom are difficult for new investors to access. Ted also shapes the firm’s views on the limitations of commonly accepted investment practices, particularly those that have failed investors during the most difficult market environments. In his role as President, Ted is responsible for setting and leading the firm’s strategic direction and chairing its Operating Committee.

 

Prior to joining Gresham, Ted served as Chief Investment Officer at Nuveen Asset Management where he was responsible for the firm’s investment activity. In addition to his investment responsibilities, Ted held several positions during his 16 years at Nuveen, including Director of Corporate Strategy and Development and Managing Director of Research and Risk Management.
